الوصف الوظيفي:
Participatory Photography Consultant – West Bank

Location: West Bank
Duration: Approximately 4 months (May – August 2026)

Background
Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) is a UK-registered charity working to deliver health and medical care to Palestinians living under occupation and displacement, while strengthening local capacity and advocating for the right to health and dignity.

Palestinians in the West Bank are facing a deepening mental health crisis driven by the ongoing unlawful Israeli occupation, including movement restrictions, settler violence, home demolitions, arrests, and systemic fragmentation of communities.

MAP is implementing a participatory photography project titled “Through Our Eyes – Palestinian Mental Health between Genocide and Apartheid”, engaging 20 Palestinian beneficiaries of MAP programmes (10 from the West Bank and 10 from Gaza) to document their lived experiences through visual storytelling.

Using the PhotoVoice methodology, the project seeks to empower participants to capture and narrate how occupation, apartheid, and systemic violence shape their mental health and daily lives. Project outputs will include a curated body of photographs, written narratives, and audio testimonies, culminating in exhibitions in Ramallah, Gaza, and the UK, as well as digital dissemination for advocacy.

To support implementation in the West Bank, MAP seeks to contract a qualified Participatory Photography Consultant to design and deliver training, mentorship, and facilitation for participants throughout the project lifecycle.

Overall Objective
To design and deliver a participatory photography training and mentorship programme that enables selected participants in the West Bank to produce high-quality visual and narrative content reflecting the mental health impacts of occupation, while ensuring ethical, trauma-informed, and participant-led storytelling.

Specific Objectives
Build participants’ skills in photography, visual storytelling, and narrative development.
Facilitate a safe and supportive space for participants to explore and express lived experiences related to mental health under occupation.
Guide participants in producing compelling photo stories with accompanying written and audio narratives.
Support the development of advocacy-oriented content grounded in participants’ own voices and analysis.
Contribute to the preparation of exhibition-ready materials for local and international audiences.

Support the selection and refinement of final photo outputs for exhibition, ensuring thematic coherence and clarity of messaging.
Provide technical and creative input to MAP’s exhibition curator/artist on image selection and sequencing, captions, quotes, narrative texts, and overall storytelling flow.
Where relevant, help prepare and brief participants for engagement with audiences, media, and policy stakeholders, including artist talks and panel discussions.
Ethical & Safeguarding Compliance
