This is a full-time Internship and working hours are from Sunday to Thursday, 08:00 – 16:00.

PREMIERE-URGENCE INTERNATIONAL (PUI) is an international, apolitical, non-religious, and non-profit French organization intervening in 23 countries worldwide. PUI aims to provide a global response to the fundamental needs to people affected by humanitarian crises, from the emergency to the restoration of their autonomy and dignity. Première-Urgence and Aide Médicale Internationale merged in 2011 to offer a better range of lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to communities affected by extreme adversity.

PUI's humanitarian and development aid strategy in oPt focuses on providing support to populations affected by the coercive environment and subsequent IHL/HR violations in both the West Bank (WB) and the Gaza Strip (GS). PUI's programming incorporates interventions in several sectors, aiming at the prevention of livelihoods' loss and displacement as a consequence of protection threats, lack of services (health, education, WASH), and lack of access to agricultural lands or job opportunities.

Overall Objective:
The Protection and Community Engagement Intern supports the Protection and Community Engagement team in collecting, recording, organizing and following up on protection-related information and community alerts. The intern contributes to timely and accurate data entry, community engagement activities, assessments and Community Eyes Watch (CEW) visits, while respecting PUI's principles, confidentiality standards and data protection procedures.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
Assist with data entry, management, and analysis.
Support CEW field visits by participating in community visits, documenting key related information, taking structured notes, and assisting in updating community profiles based on collected information and other relevant sources.
Support in conducting surveys, assessments, and field data collection.
Working Conditions: The position is expected to be approximately 80% office-based and 20% field-based, with field presence required to support CEW visits, surveys, assessments and other community engagement activities.


Specific objectives and linked activities:

1. Assist with data entry, management, and analysis.

The intern supports the Protection and Community Engagement team with the organization of information, follow-up of pending actions and preparation of relevant inputs for internal reporting and coordination.
Enter and regularly update data in the WhatsApp Alerting Tool based on information and alerts received through the designated channels.
Update the OCHA Triggers Tracker with relevant protection-related information.
Update the DA Tracker in line with established procedures and guidance.
Check data for completeness, consistency and accuracy and flag missing or unclear information to the supervisor.
2. Support om in the CEW activity


Support the team in the preparation of CEW field visits.
Participate in CEW visits and take structured notes on information shared by community members and focal points.
Assist in updating community profiles based on information collected during field visits and other relevant sources.
Document key community concerns, needs, developments and protection-related information identified during CEW visits.
3. Support in conducting surveys, assessments, and field data collection.

Assist the team in conducting surveys, assessments and field data collection activities.
Assist in collecting and recording information from community members, focal points and other relevant sources, under the guidance of the supervisor.
Support phone calls with community members or focal points when necessary for data collection, follow-up or invitations.
Ensure that information collected during surveys, assessments and field activities is accurately recorded and appropriately managed.

Education and Training:

Required:
Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Development Studies, International Relations, Humanitarian Studies, Political Science or another relevant field.
Basic understanding of humanitarian principles and community-based approaches.
Desirable:

Training or academic coursework related to protection, human rights, humanitarian action, community engagement, data collection or monitoring and evaluation.
Professional Experience:

Required:
Previous experience in volunteering, community activities, university projects or data collection is an asset.
Desirable:

Previous exposure to humanitarian or development organizations.
Previous experience supporting surveys, assessments, community outreach or field activities.
Previous experience working with community groups or local organizations.
Knowledge and Skills:

Good organizational and data-entry skills.
Attention to detail and ability to identify missing or inconsistent information.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Willingness and ability to conduct phone calls and support field activities.

Arabic: Fluent/native speaker.
