Turquoise Mountain (TM) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established in 2006 to revive traditional crafts, and historic areas and to provide jobs, skills, and opportunities through cultural heritage projects. By blending heritage buildings, education, and enterprise, Turquoise Mountain has created sustainable heritage places and livelihoods that support the revival of artisan industries. Turquoise Mountain now works in Afghanistan, Myanmar, Saudi Arabia, and Palestine and Jordan. Since 2006, Turquoise Mountain has restored over 150 historic buildings, created employment for thousands of artisans and builders, built over 50 small businesses, and supported and generated over $17 million in sales of traditional crafts to domestic and international markets.
Turquoise Mountain works in Palestine with artisans practicing traditional crafts that are under threat. We connect artisans to new and sustainable markets and provide training and other support to them and the wider artisanal community.
Job Description:
Job Title : Artisan and Production Coordination Assistant
Department: Full time – West Bank Based
Team : Design and Production Team
Job Purpose Summary
The Artisan and Production Coordination Assistant support day-to-day coordination with artisans and workshops. The role ensures that artisans receive clear information, timelines, specifications, and support needed to complete sampling, production, deliveries, and documentation.
This is a practical, field-based coordination role across different areas in the west bank focused on communication, follow-up, workshop visits, production updates, documentation, and artisan relationship support.
Core Responsibilities:
Artisan Coordination
- Maintain regular communication with artisans and workshops.
- Share production briefs, drawings, specifications, quantities, deadlines, and quality requirements.
- Follow up on production progress and report updates to the Production officers and leads.
- Coordinate workshop visits, sample reviews, delivery arrangements, and material follow-up across different cities.
Production Follow-Up
- Track the status of samples, prototypes, production orders, showroom top-ups, and commissions.
- Update production tracking sheets and flag delays, risks, or changes.
- Support the collection of information on lead times, workshop capacity, material availability, and production challenges.
- Ensure artisans understand product requirements, timelines, and quality expectations.
Documentation
- Document production progress, artisan feedback, sample changes, and workshop notes.
- Take photos of work in progress, samples, materials, tools, processes, and final products.
- Maintain organised records of artisan contacts, workshop capacities, production notes, and delivery updates.
- Share documentation with the creative team as needed.
Logistics and Procurement Support
- Coordinate collection, delivery, packing, handover, and movement of samples and finished products.
- Support procurement documentation, PRF preparation, invoices, delivery notes, and payment follow-up where needed.
- Coordinate with logistics on packing requirements, shipping timelines, and handover points.
Artisan Relationship Support
- Build respectful, consistent, and clear relationships with artisans.
- Communicate artisan concerns, needs, and constraints back to the line manager.
- Support artisans in understanding project expectations, documentation needs, and production requirements.
- Help ensure that production relationships remain fair, realistic, and transparent.
Cross team collaboration and support
- Collaborate with commercial and sales team and provide the needed production information.
- Collaborate with finance and procurement teams.
متطلبات الوظيفة:Required Qualifications
Education: A bachelor’s degree in design, architecture, industrial design, product design, or another relevant field.
Professional Experience: Previous experience working directly with artisans, craftspeople, workshops, suppliers, or production facilities is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in Arabic is required. A good working knowledge of English, both written and spoken, is highly desirable.
Mobility and Travel: The role requires regular travel to artisan workshops, production facilities, suppliers, and project locations across different cities and areas of the West Bank.
Technical and Practical Skills:
- A good understanding of design-development and production processes, from initial concepts and drawings through prototyping, quality control, and final delivery.
- Ability to prepare and interpret design drawings, technical specifications, material samples, and production documentation.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to monitor product quality, finishes, dimensions, materials, and production timelines.
- Familiarity with craft-based production, traditional materials, and handmade processes is an advantage.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work respectfully and collaboratively with artisans, designers, suppliers, colleagues, and external partners.
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks, maintain clear production records, and provide regular progress updates.
- Good organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
