The Danish Representative Office (DRO) in Ramallah is seeking to recruit a proactive and out-going political officer to join our team of highly motivated professionals representing Denmark in Palestine.
Main tasks
The job description of the political officer will be adjusted to the qualifications of the selected candidate, but is expected to include some or all of the following tasks.
Outreach and network building in Palestine to support Danish priorities.
Organisation and preparation of meetings for the political team and/or the Head of Mission.
Organisation and preparation of delegations to and from Denmark.
Following and reporting on political developments in Palestine.
Following and reporting on humanitarian developments in Palestine.
Public diplomacy in order to raise awareness of the Danish engagement in Palestine.
Ad hoc tasks, as needed.
متطلبات الوظيفة:Required qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as political science, economics, law or journalism.
Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant professional experience.
Fluency in English and Arabic, both written and spoken.
IT Proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Ability to build and maintain networks in different local and international settings.
Strong analytical skills and knowledge of Palestinian society and politics.
Ability to work independently and efficiently based on written and verbal instructions.
Strong planning skills and ability to produce high quality results within short deadlines.
Interest in knowledge sharing and willingness to learn from others.
Flexibility and willingness to adapt to the changing needs of the DRO.
We offer
The DRO offers an informal, inter-cultural and dynamic work environment with room to develop your competencies. We believe in flexible teamwork based on mutual respect, trust and open communication. The DRO has five posted staff and 10 local staff who all contribute to support Danish priorities in Palestine. You will join the political team, working closely together with, and reporting to, the Head of Political, but you will also be working together with the development/humanitarian team, depending on your final job description. You will be working under the supervision of the Head of Mission and the Deputy Head of Mission.
Employment conditions
You will be offered full-time employment on a fixed-term local contract of 12 months based on the Staff Rules of the DRO and the relevant legally binding labour market rules of Palestine – with the possibility of extension.
Your standard working hours will be 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday).
You will be entitled to paid holiday in addition to the DRO’s official closing days.
Your salary will reflect your qualifications and relevant experience.
As part of your salary, you will be covered by a workplace pension scheme.
You and your dependant family members will be offered reasonable coverage of health expenses.
