This is a full-time position and working hours are from Sunday to Thursday, 08:00 – 16:00.
PREMIERE-URGENCE INTERNATIONAL (PUI) is an international, apolitical, non-religious, and non-profit French organization intervening in 23 countries worldwide. PUI aims to provide a global response to the fundamental needs to people affected by humanitarian crises, from the emergency to the restoration of their autonomy and dignity. Première-Urgence and Aide Médicale Internationale merged in 2011 to offer a better range of lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to communities affected by extreme adversity.
PUI's humanitarian and development aid strategy in oPt focuses on providing support to populations affected by the coercive environment and subsequent IHL/HR violations in both the West Bank (WB) and the Gaza Strip (GS). PUI's programming incorporates interventions in several sectors, aiming at the prevention of livelihoods' loss and displacement as a consequence of protection threats, lack of services (health, education, WASH), and lack of access to agricultural lands or job opportunities.
Overall Objective:
The driver is responsible for monitoring daily trip movements and conducting routine vehicle inspections, including accurate completion of logbooks. Demonstrates strong skills in planning efficient routes, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, and performing pre- and post-trip checks to ensure efficiency. Ensures compliance with safety standards and stays updated on security requirements.
Tasks and Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Logistics Assistant, the driver shall be responsible for ensuring the safety of passengers and other road users at all times. The driver shall ensure regular monitoring and follow-up of vehicle maintenance and shall promptly report any security incidents or concerns. In performing these duties, the driver is expected to uphold and represent PUI with the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and commitment in all field operations.
Transportation:
The driver is responsible for the transportation of PUI staff whenever requested.
Related Tasks :
Prior to departure, checking the vehicle’s status, motor levels (oil, water, brakes), tires status and ensuring the following equipment is present: spare tyre, tyre changing equipment, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, spare water, and reflective jacket.
Ensuring that the fuel tank is at least 50 percent full. For long trips, the tank must be full and if the departure is planned in the early morning, the refueling must take place the day before.
Making sure that the destination point is well known.
Keep accurate vehicle logbooks, mileage, and fuel records.
Be flexible with working hours and field trips.
The following documents must be safely stored in the glove compartment:
Photocopy of vehicle registration documents.
Photocopy of vehicle insurance.
Handwritten vehicle logbook.
The driver and all passengers must carry the following:
Driving license (driver).
National identification (national staff).
Passport and visa (international staff).
PUI ID card.
Constant Companion.
Safety and Security:
Under the supervision of the Logistics Assistant and with coordination with West Bank Security Officer, the Driver is responsible on respecting PUI’s security procedures.
Related tasks:
Traffic regulations must be closely followed. On dirt roads, where no speed limit is stipulated, vehicles should not exceed 20 km/h.
Ensuring passengers respect all security rules (safety belts, doors/windows, checkpoint procedures, etc.)
Ensuring that non-PUI passengers respect these rules as well and that they have signed the waiver of liability.
Maintain confidentiality and always act professionally.
Ensuring basic information on the road condition with other users and/or community, always cross-checking the information with different sources.
In planning a field mission, the driver should carefully select a safe route as well as at least one alternative route in case of road closures/security challenges.
PUI drivers must undertake to drive responsibly at all times; the driver must avoid all distractions (particularly their phone) and only overtake other vehicles when they have full visibility of approaching traffic.
PUI vehicles are not authorized to transport sick or injured people. If staff witness a serious accident, the Team Leader should contact the relevant emergency services.
During field missions to higher-risk locations, vehicles should always be parked in such a way that it facilitates a quick departure. The vehicles should not be parked far from the team.
Team Leader:
Before any movement, a vehicle team leader must be identified. This can be the driver. It is the team leader’s responsibility to:
Ensure that the visibility policy is followed.
Ensure that all required documentation is present.
Ensure the working condition of all communication means: Palestinian and other SIMs with balance.
Ensure that communications procedures with the base are observed during the whole trip.
Administrative tasks:
Under the supervision of the Logistic Assistant, the Driver should Support in administrative arrangements.
Main tasks:
Handling basic emails.
Photocopying & scanning of logbooks.
Collect and submit mail, supplies & equipment to different stakeholders as requested.
Collecting quotations, invoices, receipt vouchers when required.
