Child Safeguarding Commitment:
SOS Children’s Villages works with children’s and youth. Mission of the Position:
The FLC Coordinator leads the Family Based Care (FLC) unit in the programme location. His/her primary role is to be a guardian to each SOS child/youth and family and take an active part in the growth and development of each person. The FLC Coordinator coordinates pedagogic activities in collaboration with the education coordinator and relevant social workers to ensure the adequate care of all children and youth in family-based care in accordance with the organisational policies and guidelines. He/she is a key member of the programme location and as such, takes active interest in the work of other units within the programme location. The FLC Coordinator networks pro-actively with relevant government departments, active and potential partners and the local community as directed by the Children’s Villages programme director. He/she monitors and assures the overall quality of care within the programme in line with family-based care model. The FLC Coordinator establishes and maintains strong relationships with SOS families, other forms of families: Carers, children and youth in the programme and brings strong support to the care co-workers.

• Sponsors and Local Government Department
• Local Community.
• Biological Families of the children.
Key performance areas and main responsibilities:
Leading the overall development and management of the FLC unit within the programme
• Implements the SOS CV programme approach in accordance with our brand and the relevant organisational policies (basic policies, core policies, quality standards) and relevant policy support documents.
• Supervises administrative systems and promotes the efficient and responsible use of all resources.
• Has oversight of and sometimes organises or takes regular part in the programme activities being an active part of education, child youth development and child admission committees and the overall management team.
• Upholds the FLC monitoring and evaluation system to ensure consistent quality of services for the programme.
• Ensures availability to respond and be present outside regular working hours in urgent or emergency situations to safeguard children’s well-being and ensure continuity of care.
• Participates and contributes to the programme plans and budget development.
• Holds regular finance and budgetary reviews with the accountant and Programme Director.
• Produces regular and ad-hoc reports as requested by the Programme Director.
• Develop a strong network with the other programme units in the location such as FS, education, health and advocacy to guarantee high quality of programme services.
Guiding and supporting FLC co-workers
• Leads, manages, supports and develops all core care co-workers.
• Promotes strong collaboration, effective communication and teamwork among all co-workers for effective delivery of services.
• Adopts the elements and processes of the HRM Cycle in all areas (e.g. recruitment, orientation, performance management, grievance and discipline, retirement etc.).
• Provides technical support, guidance and leadership to all care co-workers, motivating them to work as a united ‘family’.
• Support and implement appropriate training programmes for all core care co-workers.
• Spends quality time with core care co-workers in order to encourage their long-term commitment to the children and youth.
• Supports core care co-workers and helps them meet the demands and face the challenges of their day-to-day work with a view to creating stable and safe family environment.
Guiding and supporting SOS families and other forms of care
• Makes time to interact with children and youth on a regular basis, to get to know and understand them as individuals.
• Creates a framework that facilitates high quality childcare within the SOS family and the youth facilities.
• Ensures compliance and high quality of procedures for family-based care in accordance with the country’s legal laws.
• Enforces SOS Children's Villages standards, procedures and mechanisms in the field of child protection and child rights.
• Impulses innovative approaches for the successful socio professional integration of youth based on national strategy and country opportunities.
• Aligns and reviews the work within SOS families to the child and youth care quality standards.
• Takes an active interest in and at least annually reviews the child and youth development plans to assure the developmental and education needs are met within the unit or within other programme units.
• Supports the youth through their various transition processes or/and the re-settlement processes.
• Strengthens the links between SOS families and biological families and relatives if available and creates opportunities for reunions and visits.
Developing strong relationships with sponsors, local government departments and local community
• Communicates with existing and potential sponsors to maximise all sponsorship opportunities and to maintain good relationships.
• Establishes and maintains partnerships and networking with relevant government departments, local community groups and officials to establish and maintain good relationships/partnerships.
• Supports advocacy activities including working with local media.
Child Safeguarding (CS)
• Responsible within own area of work to prevent and protect children from all forms of abuse, abandonment, exploitation, violence and discrimination based on SOS Child Protection Policy principles
• Responsible for reporting any CS suspicion, concern, allegation or incident immediately following Child Safeguarding reporting procedures. CS reports should be made to the national CS focal person or any other member of the national CS team and/or to the respective line manager

Must Criteria:
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Sociology, Human Services, or related field
• At least 5 years’ experience in social services, child welfare, development, or family-based programmes.
• Minimum 3 years in supervisory/leadership roles
• Experience working with vulnerable children, families, and psychosocial support programmes
• Knowledge of alternative care models and family-based care environments.
• Experience in case management, child development planning, and reintegration processes.
• Strong programme unit management, budget monitoring, and reporting ability.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English with internal and external stakeholders.
Competencies – knowledge, skills, abilities:
• Understanding of national child protection laws and safeguarding standards.
• Strong empathy and ability to build trust with children and caregivers.
• Problem-solving and crisis response capability.
• Team building and conflict resolution.
