It also endeavors to prevent suffering by promoting and strengthening humanitarian law and universal humanitarian principles.
The ICRC Delegation in Israel and the Occupied Territories (IL/OT), is recruiting a talented, energetic, and engaged candidate for the following position:
Forensic Analyst
Place of Employment : Jerusalem
Contract duration : 1 Year Contract (renewable)
Occupation rate : 100%
Work Schedule : Sunday-Thursday (40 hours weekly)
Starting Date : March 2026
Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Information and Case Management: Execute information and case management activities according to ILOT guidelines, managing sensitive data effectively.
Team Support: Provide technical coaching and orientation to forensic and Prot team members involved in searching for missing persons, gravesites, and human remains sites.
Gravesites Information Collection: Act as the primary contact for collecting gravesite information through assessments and surveys.
Data Collection and Processing: Gather and process information on missing or deceased individuals from various stakeholders, focusing on events related to death and disappearances.
Evaluation and Verification: Analyze and document information on missing or deceased individuals, verifying data accuracy when possible.
Information Analysis: Aggregate data from multiple sources to identify potential burial sites and manage internal requests related to missing persons and human remains.
Procedural Development: Create workflows and standard operating procedures for effective data collection, analysis, and management, ensuring quality control.
Reporting and Data Management: Prepare reports on findings and propose follow-up actions for case management, collaborating with ILOT teams as needed.
Search Enhancement: Implement forensic principles to enhance searches for unaccounted individuals, creating dashboards for tracking and analysis.
Team Environment: Promote a collaborative and multidisciplinary team dynamic to achieve shared objectives.
Confidentiality and Compliance: Manage data according to confidentiality standards and data protection regulations.
Forensic Data Management: Guide the implementation of forensic data structures and methodologies related to deaths, burials, and missing persons.
Collaboration with Specialists: Work with Forensic Specialists and Data Managers to maintain the Forensic Data repository, ensuring the relevance and reliability of data sources.
متطلبات الوظيفة:Certifications / Education required
Master’s degree in Forensic Science, Criminology, Forensic Anthropology, or Genetics (human identification focus)
Specialized Training: Forensic methodologies: human remains recovery, forensic anthropology/archaeology, DNA analysis, crime scene investigation
Knowledge of international humanitarian law (IHL) and human rights law is desirable
Professional experience required
Forensic Experience:
Minimum 6 years in forensic analysis, preferably in humanitarian/conflict contexts.
Experience in managing data on missing persons, deceased individuals, and mass casualties.
Familiarity with forensic case management systems and data workflows.
Humanitarian/Conflict Context:
Experience in complex humanitarian emergencies or conflict zones with political and cultural sensitivities.
Understanding of challenges in resource-limited areas.
Collaboration and Coordination:
Experience in multidisciplinary teams with forensic experts and humanitarian organizations.
Proven ability to coordinate with stakeholders like families, authorities, and international organizations.
Communication and Reporting:
Strong report writing skills, including forensic findings and recommendations.
Experience presenting to diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders.
Technical Skills / Other Requirements
Proficiency in data management systems (e.g., PROT6, CoH Monitoring Tool).
Familiarity with GIS mapping tools for analyzing gravesites.
Strong analytical and research skills for interpreting large datasets.
Fluency in English and Arabic. Additional languages is an asset.
Valid working permit in Israel or an Israeli ID is a requirement for this vacancy
