About BFTA

Bethlehem Fair Trade Artisans (BFTA) is a women-led organization committed to empowering marginalized Palestinian artisans by connecting them to fair trade markets. Through its programs, BFTA promotes sustainable livelihoods, preserves cultural heritage, and advances social inclusion across Palestine. As part of its ongoing initiatives, including the development of the FabLab project, BFTA seeks to ensure that all interventions are inclusive, participatory, and accessible to diverse groups particularly women and individuals with disabilities.

Position Objective
BFTA is seeking a qualified External Consultant to support the adaptation of project planning and design processes to ensure inclusive participation.

The consultant will play a key role in strengthening the engagement of:

Women
Individuals with disabilities
while ensuring that project activities, spaces, and outputs are accessible, inclusive, and responsive to community needs.

Key Responsibilities

Assessment & Analysis
Review existing project design, activities, and participation approaches
Identify gaps and barriers to inclusion
Conduct consultations with artisans, youth, staff, and community stakeholders
Inclusive Design & Adaptation
Propose practical adaptations to enhance inclusive participation
Develop guidelines for inclusive design of FabLab activities, tools, and spaces
Recommend accessible communication and outreach strategies
Capacity Building
Deliver training sessions for BFTA staff and stakeholders
Provide practical tools and frameworks to strengthen inclusive practices
Reporting
Prepare and submit:
Inception report with methodology and work plan
Consultation summary
Final report with recommendations and implementation roadmap
Required Qualifications

Proven experience in gender equality, social inclusion, and disability inclusion
Demonstrated experience in participatory project design and community engagement
Strong facilitation and training skills
Experience working in development, NGO, or fair trade contexts is an asset
Familiarity with the Palestinian context or similar environments is preferred
