Action Against Hunger (AAH) is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-political, non-denominational and non-profit making organization working in the Palestinian Territory since 2002.

Action Against Hunger is recruiting for its Hebron office a

Community Engagement Officer

For a period of 12 months.

General Objective:

The Community Engagement Officer will foster positive relationships between the organization and community members. They will lead initiatives aimed at community engagement, formalization of community committees, hygiene promotion, and women empowerment. This role requires expertise in social behavior change, protection, gender, and other cross-cutting issues.

Key Activities:

Objective 1: Community Engagement and Behaviour Change Practices.

Tasks:                 

Implement community engagement activities with community representatives, members, and stakeholders.
Prepare necessary materials for campaigns/activities.
Organize and facilitate community meetings, forums, and events to promote dialogue and collaboration.
Ensure all community engagement activities adhere to protection principles and gender-sensitive approaches.
Utilize participatory methods to engage community members in identifying needs and addressing social norms and practices.
Objective 2: Cross Cutting topics

Tasks:                                 

Design and implement programs to engage women in community decision-making processes.
Facilitate the formation and formalization of women committees to address gender-specific issues.
Provide expertise in protection, gender mainstreaming, PSEA, and Safeguarding issues.
Participate in the design of hygiene-related assessments and surveys.
Implement hygiene promotion activities.
Objective 3: Support Project’s team with other related activities

Tasks:                         

Participate in planning and implementation of project activities related to beneficiary selection, household assessment, training, and other related tasks.
Support any activity that helps reach humanitarian goals.
Promote gender equality within the identified scope of work upon request.
Ensure field work complies with gender requirement data (sex-segregated data).
Participate in CPA process including public meetings, focus groups, individual interviews, problem analysis, community training, and preparation of maps.
Prepare reports and write minutes with conclusions, recommendations, and action points from meetings and field visits.
متطلبات الوظيفة:
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Education, or related fields promotion activities.
Proven work experience with local communities, children, and vulnerable people.
Experience in community mobilization and participation.
Strong communication skills for public speaking and dynamic interaction with children and adults
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
Good project field management skills.
Knowledge in humanitarian and development programming is a plus.
Knowledge in Social behavioral change, community engagement WASH and Hygiene practices.
Analytical thinking skills and ability to influence others.
Valid driving license and proven driving skills.
Ability to work in complex environments with challenges
Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking both Arabic and English
Ability to travel in West Bank and stay overnight.
