Trainers – Community-Based Paralegal Training
Project: Strengthening the Legal Empowerment and Advocacy of Bedouin Communities in Area C (CFLI Project)
1. Background
Al Baydar for Defending Bedouin Rights, in partnership with Lawyers for Justice, is implementing a CFLI-funded project to enhance the legal empowerment of Bedouin communities in Area C.
The project aims to provide comprehensive legal and advocacy support to Bedouin communities in Area C of the West Bank, focusing on the Jordan Valley and South Hebron Hills. While directly benefiting 180–200 individuals from 30 Bedouin families, and indirectly reaching out to over 2,100 individuals from 300 families through outreach and advocacy efforts. The project strengthens community resilience, improves access to justice, and amplifies Bedouin voices at local and international levels.
A key activity is to train a group of community-based paralegals who will document rights violations and help identify legal aid needs.
2. Objective
The training will prepare 10 community-based paralegals to:
Learn theoretical foundations of documentation and legal aid.
Apply these skills during field visits to Bedouin communities.
Reflect on findings and identify at least 2 focal paralegals for follow-up documentation and linkage to legal representation.
Structure of Training
Day 1 (4 October 2025): Theoretical workshop on documentation of human rights violations and legal aid pathways for Bedouin communities.
Field Visits (between sessions): Participants will conduct/observe documentation activities in Bedouin communities (South Hebron Hills or Jordan Valley).
Day 2 (11 October 2025): Feedback and applied analysis session — trainers guide participants in reflecting on field findings, identifying documentation gaps, and linking evidence to legal aid/representation needs.
4. Deliverables
Training agenda and materials (Arabic).
Delivery of a 2-day intensive training (first week of October 2025).
Pre- and post-training assessments.
Final training report with recommendations on selecting 2 paralegals as focal points.
5. Duration and Level of Effort
Contract period: September – October 2025.
Estimated input: 4 working days (2 for preparation/reporting, 2 for delivery).
6. Reporting
Trainers report to the Project Coordinator at Al Baydar.
Lawyers for Justice provides oversight on legal accuracy.

Advanced degree in Law, Human Rights, or related fields.
Minimum 5 years’ professional experience in training and/or community legal empowerment.
Strong facilitation skills and ability to adapt to local community contexts.
Excellent command of Arabic; English desirable.
