Communication Officer – Westbank Office

Type:                    Fixed Term Contract – Part time 50%

Duration:            5 months

Job Location:    WB

Reports to:       Project Manager

Summary:

Médicos del Mundo-Spain (MdM-S), is an international humanitarian organization, working to make effective the Universal Right to Health. MdM is a non-profitable, non-governmental, non-political and non-confessional organization operating under the principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality and independence.

MdM-S has been working in the oPt since 2006. Its work has been oriented to Mental Health and Psychosocial support (MHPSS), and Primary Healthcare. In the Gaza Strip, MdM-S strategy aims the improvement of mental health and wellbeing of children and adolescents. This intervention is focused on the strengthening of governmental children and adolescent’s mental health services, and community organizations working with children and adolescents through a capacity building approach. This includes training activities and materials and equipment’s provision.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE:
The Communications Officer will be responsible for supporting the documentation and implementation of awareness-raising and advocacy activities, with a focus on raising public awareness on sexual and reproductive health, mental health and psychosocial support, and gender-based violence, both locally and internationally.

I.    FUNCTIONS
Operational tasks and responsibilities
Maintain ongoing communication with the local team to involve them in the communication actions.
Elaboration of Communication outputs.
Support the local team in collecting adequate and reliable data.
Elaborate factsheets highlighting communication messages.
Participate in joint initiatives and coordination groups such as AIDA Advocacy Working Group, UN Clusters, or any other relevant partner.
Propose communication activities in media/social media to support advocacy actions.
Monitor the local media coverage and track the news/ audience feedback that are relevant to MdM Spain work.
Additional tasks and responsibilities
Translate verbally and written from Arabic to English and from English to Arabic when necessary.
Search information of communication issues on Internet and other sources when requested by the Field Coordinator / General Coordinator
To maintain good socio-professional relationships with national and international partners.
To attend team meetings and to give qualitative inputs
To prepare, if necessary, emergency plans with the MdM-S team
Perform other additional duties on request of the Field Manager/General Coordinator
Update and feed the organization’s website and social media with the most recent activities and news.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Academic / Professional background: Degree in Communications, Media, Journalism, Public Health, or related field.
Specific Skills:
Experience in digital media campaigns, preferably in humanitarian or health contexts.
Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
Basic skills in capturing and editing high-quality photos/videos for campaigns and documentation.
Language requirements:

Fluent in speaking and writing Arabic (Mandatory)
Fluent in speaking and writing English will be an asset. – Essential for coordination and campaign content
Computer literacy:

Microsoft Office Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Skilled in Canva, Adobe tools, or social media content creation platforms
Familiar with Facebook, Instagram, TikTok algorithms and engagement strategies
Compensation package:

Medicos del Mundo’s Salary charts will apply.
