ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

WFP, through its dual mandate in humanitarian and development, provides life-saving food assistance to the most vulnerable and food insecure non-refugee Palestinians and works to safeguard livelihoods, build resilience, and reconstitute food systems in vulnerable areas. WFP also lends its technical expertise to support national institutions by strengthening their capacities in responding to shocks and building an inclusive social safety net.

To further strengthen the humanitarian-development-peace nexus, WFP is providing climate-smart agricultural assets such as hydroponics and wicking beds to households to increase their calorie intake and enable them to generate income. WFP also scaled up its resilience-building activities to include greenhouses, vegetable farms, sheep, poultry, and technical and vocational trainings for youth and people with disabilities. These projects reduce people’s vulnerability to external shocks, serve as a safety net, and support livelihoods. 

In response to the urgent needs of Palestine, where protracted conflict and economic stagnation have led to widespread food insecurity, WFP delivers life-saving food assistance to the most vulnerable non-refugee Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. To address the ongoing crisis, WFP also focuses on strengthening livelihoods through resilience-building projects such as climate-smart agriculture and vocational training. Additionally, WFP supports national institutions by enhancing their capacity to respond to shocks and build inclusive social safety nets. By extending its systems to humanitarian and development partners, WFP contributes to broader efforts within the humanitarian-development-peace nexus.

This position will be based in Jerusalem and reports to VAM Officer

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Within delegated authority, the programme associate will be responsible for the following duties:

Support the Vulnerability Analysis and mapping unit in the development of food security, market, and functionality analysis.
Assist in coordinating VAM data collection, cleaning and analysis activities ensuring date completeness, timelines, and quality.
Prepare periodic reports and analysis to inform units and field offices on data entry needs.
Support the production of newsletters and periodic report on market conditions and price trends.
Draft periodic market price monitoring reports for both Gaza and West Bank.
Coordinate assessment exercises as required with in West Bank, to provide evidence and quick solutions to pressing operational issues, or as part of wider assessment and analysis processes.
Assist in coordinating VAM data collection, cleaning and analysis activities ensuring data completeness, timeliness, and quality.
Support the production of newsletters and periodic reports on the food security and market price trends.
Contribute to refining approaches and tools, such as programme questionnaires for market data collections.
Monitor and update socio economic data pertaining to the West Bank and Gaza Strip, specifically market prices, labour force data, CPI as well as import and export figures.
Provide inputs and update indicators for the WFP Global food security monitoring system on monthly basis.
Perform other related duties as required.
متطلبات الوظيفة:
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area, such as economics, data analytics, social sciences, etc. Advanced degree (Masters) in related area an advantage.

Experience: Minimum 6 years of post-university relevant working experience, including 2 years in an analytical capacity.

Language: Fluency (level C) in in oral and written communication in Arabic and in English.

Exceptional analytical and conceptual skills
Good analytical skills
Attention to detail.
Proficiency with WFP cooperate data collection analysis and visualization tools (SPSS, R, Stata, Tableau)
Experience in GIS software is a plus.
Has worked with technical items (i.e. nutrition, VAM, etc)
Has contributed to implementation of programmes.
Has observed or assisted with policy discussion.
Has experience with the quantitative food security and market analysis
