Medecins Sans Frontieres “Doctors Without Borders” is a private, non-profit international humanitarian organization dedicated to providing medical assistance to populations in crisis, without discrimination and regardless of race, religion, creed or political affiliation.

MSF-France is currently seeking to hire a MEDICAL INTERPRETER

Workplace: Nablus

Type of contract: Fixed term contract 6 months (renewable according to the need)

Activity rate: Full time

Wished start date: January 2025

Main Responsibilities of the position

Translate documents from / to mission language into a local one upon request.
Translate discussions / meetings as requested
Always keep respect towards patients, collaborators, authorities, military factions and MSF staff participating in discussions.
Ensure confidentiality of all translation is maintained as directed by the Mission/Project coordination team.
Ensure neutrality and accuracy when translating.
Declare any “conflict of interest” when asked to translate (e.g. personal involvement) which would necessitate using other staff members for translation.
Inform international staff about local customs, tradition, etc., that will help understand better the context and better communicate.
Inform medical staff about important cultural nuances to consider during a meeting, medical consultation or interview with local people.
Participate in staff trainings and meetings as an interpreter.
Provide face to face interpreting, as well as during telephone and radio calls or other telecom devices, when necessary.
Adapt communication to any circumstances, using appropriate language registry as well as diplomatic and courtesy manners.
Translate MSF internal / external documents into local language(s).
Look after all equipment provided, i.e. dictionaries or other books that belong to MSF

متطلبات الوظيفة
Education: Degree in linguistics or translation, health knowledge advisable.

Experience: 1 year of experience minimum in a similar job; experience with MSF or other NGOs desirable

Language: bilingual in English and Arabic.

Competencies: Results oriented, skilled at working in teams, flexibility, Commitment. Service oriented personal stress management
