Contract Type: Part time (8) days a month subject to the agricultural needs and deliverables (to be agreed with the project manager).
Salary: 150 USD / day
Consultancy to hire an Agronomist to support establishing an agricultural project in Beit Sira and supporting marginalized women to be trained on various agricultural methods.
I-Background on ACTED
ACTED is an international NGO registered in France. ACTED’s vocation is to support vulnerable populations affected by wars, natural disasters and/or economic and social crises, and to accompany them in building a better future. ACTED started its activities in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) in May 2007. ACTED is currently implementing projects covering multiple humanitarian / development sectors, funded by of a variety of international donors, which aim at protecting vulnerable households and strengthening civil society actors across the oPt. ACTED oPt offers a dynamic, rigorous and knowledge-orientated working environment.

In the occupied Palestinian territory, ACTED is both committed to humanitarian assistance and long-term development. ACTED strives to strengthen the economic capacities of communities, consolidate civil society organisations, and provide emergency assistance to the most vulnerable, rural communities in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza.

III- Objective
Main objective:
The Agronomist/Agricultural Engineer (Consultant) will provide technical advice, quality oversight, feedback and monitoring for the establishment of agricultural projects at household level in the targeted communities including greenhouses, home gardening, installation of irrigation systems and any other required systems. The Consultant will provide training, mentoring and onsite supervision for beneficiaries on various agricultural methods during the full agricultural lifecycle.
Specific objectives:
Provide technical specifications and BoQs to establish greenhouses, home gardening, irrigation system food processing, and other works.
lead the agricultural construction process to make sure quality standards are adhered to at the different stages of the agricultural process.
Provide capacity building for the selected community members on the use and maintenance of the greenhouses and agricultural lands.
Provide capacity building/regular coaching on crop management and marketing of agricultural production.
Provide capacity building/regular coaching on the use and maintenance of greenhouses and the use of agricultural waste for feeding livestock.
Provide on-site regular monitoring for the agricultural work being done by the beneficiaries.
•Provide capacity building/regular coaching on food processing.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
1. Programming & Implementation
Support the development of activity work plans, schedules, and budgets.
Lead implementation of assigned project activities in the field, ensuring quality and timeliness.
Ensure activities are inclusive, gender-sensitive, and conflict-sensitive.
2. Monitoring, Evaluation, & Reporting
Collect, verify, and report on activity data in coordination with MEAL team.
Document beneficiary information and maintain accurate records (attendance sheets, completion certificates, registration forms).
Contribute to preparation of project reports, case studies, and lessons learned.
Alert the Project Manager of any risks, challenges, or delays.
3. Beneficiary Engagement & Accountability
Mobilize and engage communities in planning and implementation.
Support dissemination of information about project activities and entitlements.
Facilitate feedback and complaints handling in line with the organization’s CRM (Complaints and Response Mechanism).
Ensure beneficiaries are treated with respect, dignity, and without discrimination.
4. Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement
Liaise with community leaders, local authorities, and partner organizations.
Work with suppliers and consultants and monitor the delivery of assignments according to the agreed ToRs.
Represent the project in field-level coordination meetings as delegated by the Project Manager.
Identify opportunities to strengthen collaboration with other actors to maximize impact.
5. Compliance, Documentation & Safeguarding
Ensure adherence to organizational policies, donor guidelines, and national regulations.
Safeguard sensitive data in compliance with data protection standards.
Promote adherence to the Code of Conduct, safeguarding, and PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse).
6. Security & Logistics
Monitor and report on field-level security risks.
Ensure staff and beneficiaries are aware of security protocols and SOPs.
Support logistics and procurement processes for field activities in coordination with relevant teams.
متطلبات الوظيفة:IV- Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in agronomy, agricultural engineering, crop science, soil science, or a related field. A master’s degree is an advantage.
-5 years of extensive experience in greenhouse production management, greenhouse construction, precision farming, farm management, farm quality assurance, and farm project establishment in the context of Palestine.
-5 years of experience in livelihood programs and projects, with proven experience in mentoring and coaching of beneficiaries.
-Previous experience working with food processing entities, agricultural cooperatives, women cooperatives are highly recommended.
-Sound knowledge of resilience programming, rural development, rural livelihoods enterprise, family farming, agricultural markets and agricultural private sector actors.
-Excellent training, facilitation skills, report writing, and capacity assessment skills.
Other
Previous experience working in livestock projects is an asset.
