Business Development Specialist
Sanad Project – Small Business Development and Economic Empowerment
Background
As part of the World Bank-funded Social Recovery and Job Creation Project, managed by the NGO Development Center (NDC), the Land Research Center (LRC) is implementing the Sanad Project. Sanad aims to empower women and persons with disabilities through training, capacity building, and support for establishing and strengthening small income-generating businesses, thereby contributing to job creation and local economic recovery.
Many potential and existing beneficiaries have practical production or technical skills but limited exposure to structured business planning, market analysis, costing, financial planning, marketing and business management. The assignment will therefore combine business development support, which uses practical and participatory learning to help entrepreneurs develop business ideas, prepare business plans and strengthen business-management capacities

Position: Business Development Specialist
Organization: Land Research Center (LRC)

Duty station: West Bank, with field travel to beneficiary locations
Reporting to: Project Manager / designated LRC focal point
Purpose of the Assignment
The Business Development Specialist will support women and persons with disabilities to develop viable and sustainable small businesses by delivering practical business-development training, assessing business ideas, supporting the preparation and review of business plans and feasibility assessments, and providing individual and/or group coaching and follow-up during business start-up and implementation.
4. Scope of Work and Key Responsibilities
4.1 Business Development and Business Planning
Assess beneficiaries’ business ideas, entrepreneurial readiness, technical capacities and market opportunities.
Support beneficiaries to refine business ideas and assess feasibility, profitability, risks and sustainability.
Prepare, review and improve practical business plans covering the business model, market analysis, marketing, operations, staffing, costing, cash flow and financing requirements.
Assist beneficiaries in identifying appropriate equipment, materials, inputs and other start-up requirements.
Review investment and operating costs, projected sales, revenues, cash flow and financing needs.
Provide practical advice on pricing, cost control, purchasing, record keeping, customer management, sales and marketing.
Identify business risks and develop practical mitigation measures with beneficiaries.
4.2 Coaching and Business Follow-up
Provide individual and/or group coaching to beneficiaries after training.
Conduct field or business follow-up visits to assess progress against approved business plans.
Identify operational, financial, marketing and management challenges and provide practical corrective advice.
Support beneficiaries to improve record keeping, costing, cash-flow management and basic business-performance monitoring.
Track business start-up and early performance and identify businesses requiring additional support.
Refer beneficiaries to relevant financial, technical, market, vocational or other business-development services where appropriate.
4.3 Coordination, Documentation and Reporting
Coordinate closely with the LRC project team and relevant stakeholders.
Maintain accurate records of training attendance, business plans, coaching sessions, field visits and beneficiary progress.
Maintain confidentiality and appropriate protection of beneficiary and business information.
Prepare training, coaching, field-visit and progress reports covering achievements, challenges, recommendations and follow-up actions.
Provide inputs to project monitoring, results measurement, lessons learned and success stories.
Participate in project review meetings and other activities requested by the Project Manager.
متطلبات الوظيفة:Required Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Economic Development, Project Management or a related field.
At least 3 years of demonstrated experience in business development, entrepreneurship, MSME development, economic empowerment, livelihoods or related areas.
Practical experience preparing business plans, feasibility studies, budgets, costing and financial projections for small businesses.
Demonstrated experience in entrepreneurship/business-management training and coaching.
Experience working with women, persons with disabilities, vulnerable groups or marginalized communities is an asset.
Good understanding of Palestinian local markets and the operating environment of micro and small businesses.
Strong facilitation and adult-learning skills, including participatory and experiential methods.
Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, and familiarity with business-planning/financial-analysis tools.
Very good command of Arabic and English, written and spoken.
Willingness and ability to undertake regular field visits.

7. Safeguarding, Inclusion and Accountability
Comply with LRC safeguarding, PSEA, code of conduct, anti-fraud, data protection and confidentiality requirements.
Ensure training and coaching are inclusive, accessible and respectful of women, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable participants.
Maintain professional boundaries and report safeguarding or protection concerns through established project channels.
Apply do-no-harm, accountability to affected populations and conflict-sensitive approaches.
8. Duration and Level of Effort
The assignment will be implemented in accordance with the Sanad Project workplan and the number of beneficiaries/groups assigned by LRC. The selected specialist must be available to deliver training, provide coaching and undertake field follow-up during the agreed period.
