Médecins du Monde (MdM) France is an international medical organization, which has been present in the Palestinian territory since 1995. It operates in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank (WB) through offices located in Jerusalem, Bir Zeit, and Nablus.

MdM is currently looking for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Social Worker based in Nablus.

MAIN OBJECTIVE
To improve communities' psychosocial wellbeing through the provision of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) and awareness raising activities.

Tasks and responsibilities
Main responsibilities and activities of MdM Social Worker can imply modification according to the context, the organization of the work and to the composition of the team.

General Responsibilities:
In collaboration with the MHPSS and medical teams, assist in the identification of psychosocial needs, especially in the recognizing of emergency situations and mental health symptoms related with it on the affected population.
Participate in the process of capacities building for local partners, health care workers or community volunteers in basic psychosocial topics and self-care topics.
Implement Community Support Circles (CSCs) with health care workers and community volunteers to provide safe spaces for building community resilience to cope with emergencies.
Based on community needs and interests, implement community-based awareness raising activities and psychoeducation sessions.
Assist in maintaining contacts with key contacts at community level (Village Councils, community-based organizations, community leaders, Community Eyes Watches …) on the PSS aspects of MdM France’s projects.
Contribute to set and maintain an updated mapping of local interlocutors and service providers in the project area.
Participate in working and coordination meetings with partner organizations as requested by the line manager and ensure that meeting minutes, including key information, are shared properly.
Participate in communication and advocacy activities, upon request.’
Provide monthly reports on the activities to the line manager and to the technical manager, according with the deadlines for it, with quantitative data, as well as qualitative analysis based on the knowledge and field findings.
Collaborate and participate, in any field survey, data collection and/or needs assessment organized by MDM France in relation to MHPSS.
Report the progress and the development of activities, achievements, challenges, and eventual gaps to the line manager.
Ensure that MHPSS activities are well documented in accordance with MdM France’s standards.
Ensure the respect of MdM’s France protocols and policies regarding protection mainstreaming, child protection, PSEA and accountability mechanisms during programme implementation.
Report sensitive cases encountered at community level (i.e. suicidal, sexual abuse) based on MdM France’s protocols and PSEA policies.
To inform immediately the security focal point in case of any security incident or problem.
Specific Responsibilities in the project.

Enhance the capacity of local partners and community-based organizations through CFRS training.
Provide follow-up and support to the CFRS and Community Support Circles (CSCs) in accordance with any questions or situations that may arise.
Work collaboratively with the psychologist to enhance the information related to the established target population and provide mutual support during the implementation of the project.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCES

Education:

Mandatory: A bachelor’s degree in social work, sociology or in any other relevant field/certified social worker.
Mandatory: Valid professional license certificate to practice as Social Worker issued by MoH.
Experience:

Mandatory: Minimum 2-year professional experience in a relevant field related to mental health (social work, psycho-social support).
Mandatory: Minimum 1-year experience in planning and conducting awareness raising sessions at community level and training on MHPSS topics.
Mandatory: Minimum 1-year previous experience and knowledge of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) activities within the humanitarian sector.
Languages:

Desirable: Strong command of English (written and spoken).
Technical Skills:

Mandatory: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Desirable: Demonstrated experience in reporting and data collection skills, both qualitative and quantitative, especially in MHPSS component.
Desirable: Demonstrated experience in engaging and working with adolescents and youth, showcasing an understanding of their unique needs, challenges, and perspectives.
Soft Skills:

Strong organizational and interpersonal abilities.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Proven ability to work effectively under pressure.
Willingness to travel to the project sites within the West Bank as required

This job tasks can be modified at any time according to changes in MdM activities or in the context with prior notice and agreement between the two parties. On demand of the functional supervisor, with prior approval from the MHPSS Manager, other tasks might be added to that present list.

The employee shall respect Médecins du Monde - France’s schedule and Terms and Conditions of Engagement for National Staff and is expected to be available anytime to answer to an emergency and be flexible and available beyond normal working hours if requested.
