Background:
Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) is a UK-registered charity that has been reaching out to the Palestinian communities, striving to deliver health and medical care to those worst affected by conflict, occupation, and displacement. MAP provides immediate medical aid to those in need at times of crisis, while also developing local capacity and skills to ensure the long-term development of the Palestinian healthcare system.  MAP’s vision is of a future in which all Palestinians can access an effective, sustainable, and locally led system of healthcare and the full realization of their rights to health and dignity.

MAP is working to support neonatal care in the West Bank to ensure that the youngest and most vulnerable residents are provided with the best possible care and medical support in their first weeks of life by building the capacities of the neonatal medical teams through training sessions and fellowship opportunities to provide the care the newborn babies need as well as provide the needed drugs and supplies needed to treat at-risk newborns.  MAP aims to support the development of Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) Hub that is led and chaired by Al-Makassed experts. The hub includes neonatal healthcare workers from in Hebron and Al-Makassed Hospital who all will work together closely to ensure that newborn infants and their families receive appropriate care in a setting able to meet their needs, as close to home as possible. Specifically, the hub will lead the quality improvement project in Al-Makassed Hospital and Hebron Southern hospitals including the revision of and implementation of clinical protocols and guidelines, data collection and utilization, infection prevention, and priority needs.

 

Aim of the neonatal hub/ network:
The hub/network's main objective is to streamline the exchange of evidence-based information, updated protocols, guidelines, referral mechanisms, challenges and their corresponding solutions. Moreover, it aims to facilitate collaboration and networking among healthcare providers, neonatal units, and stakeholders engaged in neonatal care. Through facilitating communication, sharing best practices, and fostering collaborative initiatives, the hub endeavors to facilitate knowledge exchange and enhance quality-of-care delivery in neonatology.

3- Objective:

The MAP West Bank office is seeking a Coordinator for the Neonatal Hub/network, which encompasses Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) in the southern region of the West Bank, including Alia, Al-Ahli, Mizan, Al-Muhtaseb, PRCS, Yatta and Beit Jala Hospitals as well as Al-Makassed Hospital in Jerusalem. The coordinator will primarily be tasked with facilitating and leading collaboration, communication, and consensus among the members of the neonatal hub, across all aspects of its operations, while working closely with the MAP programme team. Additionally, the coordinator will be responsible for data collection and analysis, engaging with stakeholders, organizing meetings, and identifying initiatives for quality improvement within the neonatal units at Al-Makassed and Hebron hospitals.

4- Scope of work and deliverables:

Organize and lead regular neonatal hub monthly, quarterly, and as needed meetings.
Develop and distribute the meetings’ agenda among the neonatal hub members and MAP team.
Write meeting minutes, recommendations, and lessons learned and circulate them among the neonatal hub members.
Share neonatal care evidence-based protocols and best practice procedures
Ensure the needed setup for the meetings either remotely or face-to-face.
Maintain attendance lists.
Contribute and follow up on the quality improvement activities through audit and evaluation such as the implementation of clinical protocols, data collection, infection prevention control, referral mechanisms and others.
Collect regular statistical data from the neonatal units such as the number of admissions, number of referred cases, and mortality rate.
Ensure that the neonatal hub members share their needs for capacity-building trainings and needed supplies and drugs.
Reporting to and briefing MAP team on the activities of the neonatal hub.
5- Duration:

The contract period is for one year. the plan to have 4 meetings and as needed with the neonatal network for this year.

-Qualifications:

Preferably, a candidate with experience as a neonatal unit nurse, neonatologist.
Knowlege of neonatal care evidence-based information and protocols
Possesses strong leadership and management capabilities
Must have access to both Hebron and Jerusalem.
Essential to have experience in coordination, managing meetings, and quality improvement approach.
Excellent communication skills are a must.
Reliability and timeliness are crucial attributes for this role.
The candidate should be motivated and available.
Reporting and Payment Schedule:
The payment will be daily paid based on payment request; approved timesheet and meetings report approved by MAP Programme officer/ Manager.

Ethical Considerations
 The incumbent is required to adhere to MAP policies and ethical guidelines, including MAP’s safeguarding policy and code of conduct.
