Advocacy Officer (50% position)

About Sabeel
Sabeel is a Palestinian Christian liberation theology center committed to promoting justice,
peace, and reconciliation through theological reflection, interfaith engagement, and nonviolent
activism. Rooted in Christian values and the lived reality of the Palestinian people, Sabeel
advocates for human dignity and the end of oppression through ecumenical and interfaith
partnerships.
Position Overview
Sabeel is seeking a passionate and well-informed Advocacy Officer (50%) to support its
four-year interfaith project. The Advocacy Officer will play a key role in amplifying the project’s
vision by raising awareness, influencing public opinion, and engaging both local and
international audiences in support of human rights and interfaith cooperation.
Key Responsibilities
● Develop and implement advocacy strategies that align with the project's interfaith and
liberation theology framework.
● Produce advocacy materials, policy briefs, press releases, and social media content in
coordination with the communications team.
● Monitor and analyze developments related to human rights, international law, religious
freedom, and social justice in the region.
● Support the planning of interfaith public events, campaigns, and solidarity actions.
● Build and maintain relationships with local and international partners, civil society actors,
policymakers, and faith leaders.
● Represent Sabeel in advocacy forums, network meetings, and public discussions as
needed.
● Contribute to reports, evaluations, and donor updates related to the advocacy
component of the project.

Qualifications
● A degree in political science, international relations, human rights, theology, or a related
field.
● A demonstrated commitment to justice, peacebuilding, interfaith cooperation, and
international law.
● At least two years of experience in advocacy, public policy, communications, or related
work (experience in interfaith or human rights work is preferred).
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, Arabic and Hebrew.
● Ability to communicate complex issues clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.
● Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
● Holds a valid Jerusalem ID and is available to travel as needed.

Preferred Qualities
● Knowledge of the political and religious context.
● Experience in faith-based advocacy and familiarity with liberation theology.
● Digital media and communications experience is a plus.
Work Schedule
This is a part-time position (50%), with flexible hours coordinated with the Sabeel team.
