Job Title: Protection Communication Specialist (Emergency Response)

Location: Gaza Strip & West bank

Starting date: ASAP

Job Description:

The Protection Communication Specialist is a critical role responsible for planning and managing the Protection Against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) communication activities within an emergency response context in the Gaza Strip. This role is crucial in ensuring the effective implementation of the project's activities aimed at providing protection measures and services to the affected population, particularly those residing in informal shelters and local communities impacted by the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip.

Responsibilities:

Developing Communication Strategy Development:
Develop a comprehensive communication strategy tailored to the emergency in Gaza, focusing on PSEA and other protection-related themes.
Ensure the strategy aligns with the project's objectives of providing direct protection measures and services, including cash assistance, to vulnerable populations.
Implementing Community Awareness Campaigns:
Oversee a series of awareness sessions totaling 160 sessions targeting Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in informal shelters and members of targeted communities. Topics will include Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Child Protection (CP), and PSEA.
Utilize various communication channels such as community meetings, WhatsApp groups, and printed materials to ensure comprehensive outreach.
Supporting Community Groups and Initiatives:
Provide direct support to community groups implementing Community-Led Initiatives (CLIs) aimed at addressing immediate protection risks.
Guide and support these groups in identifying protection-related risks within their communities.
Assist in the development of initiatives proposals from community groups addressing identified protection needs.
Collaborate closely with the MA'AN team to facilitaate the development and implementation of these initiatives.
Supporting Protection Specialized Services:
Identify individuals, especially women and children, facing heightened risk or vulnerability, including GBV survivors and affected families.
Support in coordinating case management services and facilitate linkages/referrals to specialized protection actors for comprehensive support.
Coordinate with relevant protection staff, such as the Child Protection officer and Counsellors Supervisor, for endorsement of support planned activities.

Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in communications, Social Sciences, or related field.
Knowledge of protection issues, including Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Child Protection (CP), and Protection Against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA).
Experience in conducting community awareness campaigns and facilitating training sessions.
Strong organizational and coordination skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Arabic and English.
Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and fast-paced environment.
Understanding the Gaza Strip context and familiarity with local communities is highly desirable.
Note: Due to the emergency and the dynamic nature of the conflict, flexibility, and readiness to adapt to changing circumstances are essential for success in this role.
