Background  

Turquoise Mountain is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established in 2006 to revive traditional crafts and historic areas and to provide jobs, skills, and opportunities through cultural heritage projects. By blending heritage buildings, education, and enterprise, Turquoise Mountain has created sustainable heritage places and livelihoods that support the revival of artisan industries. Turquoise Mountain now works in Afghanistan, Myanmar, Saudi Arabia, and the Levant. Since 2006, Turquoise Mountain has restored over 150 historic buildings, created employment for thousands of artisans and builders, built over 50 small businesses, and supported and generated over $17 million in sales of traditional crafts to domestic and international markets.  

Turquoise Mountain Levant works in Jordan, Palestine, and the wider region to support cultural heritage. We connect hundreds of artisans to new and sustainable markets, provide training and education in traditional crafts, and lead sustainable regeneration projects of historic buildings.  

This Role  

Turquoise Mountain is seeking a creative Digital Marketing Mentor (Consultant) to provide one-on-one mentorship support for 10 Palestinian artisans over a period of three months (July to September 2025). Each artisan will receive on average 8 hours of mentorship support. The primary aim of this program is to enhance the artisans’ online presence, explore effective digital channels, and increase their sales to ensure that they have sustainable income. And this role will be essential in identifying digital marketing opportunities and empowering artisans with the tools, knowledge, and skills needed to succeed in today’s competitive e-commerce environment. 

The selected mentor will conduct a rapid needs assessment to identify gaps, weaknesses, challenges, and potential opportunities in each artisan’s current digital marketing efforts. Through the mentorship process, the mentor will work closely with each artisan to address their specific marketing challenges, helping them develop and implement effective digital strategies. The mentor will guide artisans in the creation and optimization of social media pages, content creation, paid and organic advertising, and exploration of alternative platforms for both local and international sales. Additionally, the expert will provide practical solutions tailored to each artisan's unique needs. 

Responsibilities  

Rapid Needs Assessment: Design and conduct a needs assessment for each artisan to understand their current digital marketing capacities, identifying challenges, gaps, and opportunities for improvement. 
Develop Personalized Marketing Plans: Based on the needs assessment, create a tailored digital marketing plan for each artisan that addresses their unique challenges and includes strategies for improving social media presence, content creation, and e-commerce. 
One-on-One Mentorship: Deliver practical, in-person, one-to-one mentorship sessions for each artisan, focusing on implementing the personalized marketing plan. The mentorship should be hands-on and adapted to the artisan's current capacities and needs and should include the following key topics to ensure achieving the primary goal of boosting sales and improving their online presence: 
Optimize social media pages: Organize and structure artisan profiles to ensure they are professional and complete. This includes filling out all necessary information, crafting a compelling bio, creating well-organized highlights, and ensuring product descriptions and photos are clear, engaging, and optimized for sales. 
Sponsored Ads: Support the artisans in the know-how for creating and running effective sponsored ad campaigns on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and others. Provide guidance on targeting the right audience, setting ad budgets, and measuring ad performance. 
Organic Social Media Growth: Support the artisans in the know-how for growing their social media presence organically through regular posting, audience engagement, and content optimization. 
Content Creation and Visual Storytelling: Provide hands-on assistance with creating high-quality content, such as product photos, videos, and engaging captions, that showcase their products in the best light. 
WhatsApp Business: Guide artisans in developing and utilizing WhatsApp Business for marketing, including setting up a business profile, creating catalogs, and using broadcast lists for customer engagement. 
AI Tools Integration: Introduce artisans to AI tools for content creation, automation, and data analysis to optimize their social media marketing efforts. 
E-Commerce Strategy: Identify and recommend alternative e-commerce platforms for artisans, considering the restrictions of international platforms within the Palestinian context. Guide artisans through the process of effectively showcasing their products, managing orders, setting pricing, and integrating payment gateways to ensure they receive payments. Additionally, provide support in managing shipping through these channels. 
Final Report: Prepare a final report in English detailing the flow of the mentorship program, including the effectiveness of the marketing strategies, improvements in artisans’ digital presence, sales increases, success stories, challenges faced, and recommendations for further growth.  
Duration   

This consultancy contract will last for 3 months, from July to September 2025. The assignment will be completed over 12 working days, 8 hours of one-on-one mentorship per artisan.

Qualifications  

Minimum of three years of experience in digital marketing and e-commerce. 
Strong mentorship skills, with experience in tailored and creative approaches. 
Professionalism in social media management, digital campaigns, AI tools, and content creation. 
Expertise in e-commerce platforms, with innovative strategies to showcase products and boost sales through diverse online channels, including alternatives to restricted sites. 
Familiarity with Palestinian artisans and craft businesses. 
Ability to identify marketing challenges and develop practical, out-of-the-box solutions. 
Excellent communication skills in Arabic and English. 
Flexibility to travel to Hebron and Bethlehem as needed.

A financial offer at a daily rate in USD with a clear breakdown of days allocated for each task in this assignment, inclusive of all expenses required for accomplishing this consultancy assignment (e.g., transportation, taxes, others).
