This workshop will feature Omar Shakir (Israel and Palestine Director at Human Rights Watch), Mariam Barghouti (researcher, writer, and journalist featured in Al-Jazeera, the New York Times, the Guardian, and BBC amongst others), and Tareq Baconi (Senior Analyst for Israel/Palestine at the International Crisis Group, writings and analysis featured in Al-Ghad and Al-Quds al-Arabi, and in English in The Washington Post, Foreign Affairs, The Guardian, The New York Times, BBC, and author of ‘Hamas Contained: The Rise and Pacification of Palestinian Resistance’)
It will consist of the guest speakers' analysis of the historical contextualization of the current realities on the ground as well as an overview of the recent Human Rights Watch report on Israel. The session will conclude with a Q&A, as well as a final segment with An Najah debaters on how to debate and adjudicate Palestine/Israel.
