Pioneers Baccalaureate School is seeking an AP Chemistry teacher for the 2021-2022 school year.
About the Position:
A successful science teacher will have a deep understanding of the content and will push students to question their assumptions about science and the natural world. Teachers should encourage students to pose questions, investigate, and think about information in new ways.
While teaching support is provided by administration, teachers must feel comfortable working independently and developing materials. Our teachers devote a lot of time to planning thoughtful lessons that teach students how think critically about information and inspire students to consider ways that their learning can be applied to problems in their lives. This typically requires work outside of normal school hours.
REQUIRED Qualifications:
-Undergraduate degree in related subject area
-Fluent English (classes and materials are fully in English)
-Familiar with the content and structure of the AP Chemistry class and exam
-Demonstrated ability to problem solve and work independently
-Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
-Receptive to constructive criticism and feedback
-Possess a strong work ethic; show a desire to continually improve/adopt new practices and take pride in your work
-Flexible with a positive attitude
-Show enthusiasm for the subject and for working with teenagers
Strongly Preferred Qualifications:
-Advanced degree in chemistry (Masters or higher).
-1-2 years of prior teaching experience in a science subject
-Experience with lesson planning and/or developing classroom materials
-Experience using digital education tools (ex: Google Classroom, Edpuzzle, Coggle, PhET simulations)
-Familiar with a student-centered learning approach

Part 2: AP Chemistry Exam
Applicants must take an AP Chemistry exam to demonstrate their understanding of the content and exam structure. On April 8th , 2021 at 11:30am the test will be administered at Pioneers Baccalaureate School. The test takes 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete. Bring a pencil and be sure to arrive at least 10 minutes early.
