Gaza Sky Geeks, established in 2011 by Mercy Corps with support from Google, is Palestine’s leading tech hub that trains, nurtures, and supports emerging tech talent to create a sustainable and inclusive digital job market in Palestine. With 10 years of experience training globally recognized tech talent.
The Position (General Position Summary)
Working with program teams, you will ensure that data collection is efficient, effective, on time, and aligned with Mercy Corps M&E guidelines and donor requirements.
The role is integral to ensuring data is safe, secure, organized, and accessible by working with program teams and IT support, utilizing existing tools (PowerBi, google sheets, excel, and cloud-based SQL Server databases), as well as continually monitoring for areas of improvements.
You will provide program teams and management with timely data and analysis in order to make informed decisions. Critical thinking, curiosity, the ability to filter out noise, create compelling presentations and provide value-add insights are vital to long-term success.
Essential Responsibilities
Conduct regular spot checks to confirm data is reliable and valid
Ensure information flows throughout the organization in a fluid way that is useful for the audience, including monthly dashboards and regular programmatic updates
Provide program leads and senior management with the tools, insights, and knowledge to make informed decisions regularly. This includes analyzing and presenting relevant project metrics to determine efficacy of activities.
Work closely in collaboration with the different program leads to spot learning opportunities through data analytics and deep dives
Proactively identify opportunities for deep dives and follow up on whether action items have been addressed.
Identify research opportunities that are impactful to the visibility of the project and its outcomes as well as opportunities that impact and contribute to the development of the local and global tech ecosystem.
Assist with the donor reporting process by compiling and reviewing key data, metrics, reports, and other communications.
Prepare and deliver high-quality presentations (written and in-person) on the achievements, data, and learnings with program management, donors, and other external parties.
Develop and improve the project data science capabilities through various tools, visualizations, and systems installed as well as identifying areas of improvement.
Conduct qualitative research/data collection with program participants through focus groups and interviews.
Analyze surveys, attendance, and other data to find areas for improvement in activities.
Continually and proactively revisit the data collection tools and methodologies to ensure they will meet program, MC Global, and donor requirements.
Identify areas of automation in the data collection, analysis, and reporting process.
Provide relevant training to the program team to ensure accurate and precise collection of data.
Respond to any ad-hoc data and analysis requests, systems review, and process improvements related to the data and learning function.

Works directly with: Gaza Sky Geeks Team, Mercy Corps PAQ, Mercy Corps IT and other support functions

Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to our program participants, community partners, and other stakeholders, and to international standards guiding international relief and development work. متطلبات الوظيفة:Minimum Qualification & Transferable Skills
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science.
- 2+ years of work experience in a relevant field. Experience in MEL or a highly organized role in other fields will be of value.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as PowerBi, Google Sheets, Excel, and databases (specifically SQLServer Cloud)
- Ability to run online surveys to collect data, then operate the ETL process to extract, transform, and load into SQL Server databases in the cloud
- Ability to conduct in-depth data analytics and generate actionable insights, with significant experience in quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
- Experience in presenting data analysis to senior management and external stakeholders, both written and verbally, as well as areas of learning and improvement.
- Ability to ensure efficient, effective, and timely data collection processes.
- Strong English communication skills to ensure information flows effectively with international staff and project stakeholders.
- Understanding of M&E principles and guidelines, especially those set by Mercy Corps and large government donors.

Preference (but not essential) for those with experience and capability in leading focus group sessions and conducting qualitative interviews.
